Role Introduction

Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communications Manager will work remotely while collaboratively contributing to meaningful work with our clients. You will be responsible for providing senior professional communications counsel to clients and managing a team in coordination with the Communications Director. As a senior communications professional, you will be expected to work independently and with a team to provide hands-on, strategic communications advice and planning on various clients’ projects and ensure the implementation of high-quality deliverables.

The position will work remotely with daily supervision and development including regular video-conference meetings, ongoing virtual team messaging/chat tools, emails, and telephone calls.

Typical Workday

  • Provide strategic communications advice, ideas, direction and support to the agency’s clients for internal and external communications, media relations, brand management, digital communications and crisis management.
  • Develop strategic and tactical communications strategies for local and national stakeholders that promote, enhance and protect brand reputation. Identify emerging issues and execute appropriate strategies to support them.
  • Delegate and manage execution of tasks and deliverables to support the needs of various projects and portfolios.
  • Provide communication guidance, editing and feedback for all external communications.
  • Ensure overall proper planning, leadership, coordination and assessment of campaigns, media events, public events, presentations, conferences, announcements, information sessions and other events.
  • Ensure strategic planning and execution of social media strategies, community management and content development for websites, social media channels including Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram, blogs, podcasts, webinars or webcasts, vlogs, graphic and social media assets, etc. Advise on digital media strategies such as online media buying, GoogleAds and SEO.
  • Ensure the production of high-end, high-quality deliverables, both written and visual, for all communications platforms including news releases, pitches, Q&As, speaking notes, memos, feature stories, reports, speeches, newsletters, alerts, webcasts, announcements
  • Develop effective working relationships with clients, staff and a wide range of external stakeholders, service providers and industry peers.
  • Manage a small team of communications professionals and their projects. Working with ClickUp to track hours, timelines and project notes – you will work with the Director of Communications to manage the team’s skill development, capacity and day to day reporting.

Qualifications

  • More than 5 years of directly related experience in communications, public relations, marketing, business or related discipline. Multi-sector and/or international experience is an asset.
  • A public relations, marketing or business related discipline diploma, university degree or masters

Salary Expectation

$65,000 - $75,000

Additional Information

As this agency is focused on working with Indigenous communities, preference will be given to Indigenous or persons of colour or people with extensive experience working with Indigenous communities.
